The American Chamber of Commerce Jamaica (AMCHAM) is a non-profit organization and independent association formed in 1986 by U.S. business people and Jamaicans who do business with the United States of America.
The main objective of the Chamber is to promote investment and trade between the United States, Jamaica, throughout the region, and around the world via networks unique to AMCHAM. It has been and will continue to be the most influential voice of U.S. businesses in Latin America and the Caribbean.
On 19th January 1986, thirteen (13) American businessmen met at the Wyndham Hotel in New Kingston and resolved to form an American Chamber of Commerce of Jamaica, under the auspices of the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America (AACCLA) and the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America.
AmChamJamaica is one of 28 AmChams including Haiti, Dominican Republic, Barbados and the Eastern Caribbean, Trinidad & Tobago, Brazil, Argentina, Panama, Columbia representing more than 20,000 companies throughout the region and the hemisphere with over 80% of U.S. investment in the region. This strengthens our reach as a body to encourage business linkages and promote partnerships.
AmCham Jamaica is affiliated to the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America (COCUSA) in Washington DC, the largest federated business organization in the world, with offices in 116 countries. It is also a member of the Association of American Chambers of Commerce in Latin America and the Caribbean American Chambers of Commerce, AACCLA and works closely with the Government of Jamaica, to facilitate investment and trade.
AmChams are affiliated with the Chamber of Commerce of the United States of America (COCUSA), Washington, DC - the largest federated business organization in the world - with offices in 65 countries. AmChams work closely with the government of the host country to facilitate investment and trade between the host country and the United States.

Aims & Objectives
The main goals are connected to the overall ambition of AMCHAM Jamaica:
- To promote trade opportunities between Jamaica, the United States, the region and the world
- To promote Jamaican exports
- To provide Jamaican and American business people with a forum to advocate public policies that will enhance the business climate between the two countries
- To maintain a climate of cordiality between the public and private sectors of both countries, and to promote greater understanding between their people.
