Our Committees
Each Committee is driven by its own area(s) of focus, objectives, implementation of activities with budget (generation and management in tandem with activities) and success criteria or key performance indicators.
AmCham Jamaica’s committees play a vital role in driving initiatives that support business opportunities, mitigate risks, and foster growth both locally and internationally. Each committee is dedicated to specific areas of focus, working to identify and address business priorities, developing strategies, and implementing activities that align with the Chamber’s mission. These committees also support efforts to enhance communication and engagement with stakeholders, ensuring AmCham Jamaica’s story and impact are effectively shared.

- Identify and implement AmCham Ja’s immediate business priorities
- Develop a marketing and communications strategy to “tell our story better” (internal/external stakeholders)
Digitization & Cybersecurity Committee
The Digitization and Cybersecurity Committee is responsible for recommending digital transformation changes as well as ways to deal with cybersecurity threats that support the mission, values, and strategic goals of AmCham Jamaica.
AREAS OF FOCUS:
- To focus on the business needs of companies to increase digitization and automation to increase productivity and profits;
- To assist in the identification of digital tools that can increase member company productivity including agile development, robotics, and cloud-based operating models;
- Assess and highlight the cybersecurity and other challenges that may arise as a result of digitization and automation;
- To promote organizational security and cybersecurity awareness while encouraging the use of digital infrastructure with supportive legislative frameworks;
- To scan the national legal and policy environment and make recommendations for AMCHAM Jamaica’s public positioning on issues; and
- Work with the Secretariat to support the identified needs of the Chamber and its members through events – planning, sponsorship, and profit generation.

Energy & Renewables
The Energy and Renewables Committee is responsible for recommending energy policies, that support the mission, values, and strategic goals of AmCham Jamaica. The Committee also reviews the legislative and policy landscape to reflect the diversity of energy sources, from fossil-based systems to renewable energy sources, to best serve the energy requirements and cost demands of our members.
AREAS OF FOCUS:
- To reflect the concerns of the energy sector that is made up of a variety of stakeholders and a mix of energy sources including stakeholders in the production and consumption of oil, natural gas, coal, wind, solar, and lithium-ion batteries;
- To promote a rational electricity policy that supports those in the sector as well as the wide AmCham membership;
- To advocate for energy transition to support reasonable energy costs for AmCham members;
- To solicit input from AmCham Jamaica member companies as feedback to their energy requirements and challenges;
- To scan the national environment and make recommendations for AmCham Jamaica’s public positioning on issues; and
- Work with the Secretariat to support the identified needs of the Chamber and its members through events – planning, sponsorship, and profit generation.
Membership Committee
The Membership Committee is responsible for overseeing and participating in the retention and addition of new members to the Chamber in ways that that support the mission, values, and strategic goals of AmCham Jamaica. The Committee members will work with the Board of Directors, the CAO and the AmCham Secretariat to identify new members for recruitment, as well as offer input for continuous improvement to services offered by the association. It shall also review membership categories and offer recommendations to the Board on membership fees and categories.
AREAS OF FOCUS:
- To focus on ensuring sufficient engagement/networking and satisfaction among members as well as ensuring that the AmCham Jamaica brand is promoted to all stakeholders;
- To improve and sustain the image of AmCham Jamaica as proactive, vibrant and relevant by continuing to attract the highest quality members;
- To encourage existing members to participate in AmCham Jamaica activities and;
- To underscore the relevance and benefits of membership whilst providing tangible benefits to the member companies;
- To be exemplary ambassadors for AmCham Jamaica;
- To grow the membership base; and
- Work with the Secretariat to support the identified needs of the Chamber and its members through events – planning, sponsorship, and profit generation.

Trade & Investment Committee
The Trade and Investment Committee is responsible for advising and assisting the Chamber in negotiating and concluding trade agreements, as well as developing local & international policies with governments and/or international organizations that support the mission, values, and strategic goals of AmCham Jamaica. The committee also works with the Secretariat to determine annual trade missions for the Chamber.
AREAS OF FOCUS:
- To coordinate and monitor AmCham Jamaica representation on external committees that work with the US and Jamaican governments and other private sector organisations;
- To solicit input from AmCham Jamaica member companies as feedback to local and regional trade negotiations;
- To research, track and maintain current records of Jamaica’s trade agenda as it relates to the US;
- To monitor the trade and investment environment with a view to providing advanced notice and support on issues that may affect the investment and business climate in Jamaica;
- To recommend participation in trade conferences, seminars, working groups and policy forums, and
- Work with the Secretariat to support the identified needs of the Chamber and its members through events – planning, sponsorship, and profit generation.

Work Force Committee
The Workforce Committee is responsible for the creation of a stronger, highly-skilled Jamaican workforce through modernized education policies and partnerships that support the mission, values, and strategic goals of AmCham Jamaica.
AREAS OF FOCUS:
- To promote a stronger, highly-skilled Jamaican workforce through modernized education policies and partnerships between businesses and public institutions;
- To assist in better aligning educational and training goals with business needs ensures a stronger workforce and a more productive economy;
- To recognize and support the role that private industry must play to close the skills gap and help today’s workers excel in the jobs of tomorrow;
- To move to build partnerships with education and community leaders that align local business needs with career pathway and support programs across the country;
- To solicit input from AmCham Jamaica member companies as feedback to their workforce requirements; and
- Work with the Secretariat to support the identified needs of the Chamber and its members through events – planning, sponsorship, and profit generation.
